Accessing Justice Through Political Literacy
Village Aid works in partnership with Simli Aid in Northern Ghana who carry out Reflect in the communities where they work
Simli Aid uses Political Literacy to ensure that community members are aware of their rights. One way they do this is through para-legal committees. This has worked well in educating and promoting the rights of community members. Para-legal committees have been set up in all 60 communities where Simli Aid works, to educate and advise community members on human rights issues.
Through Political Literacy, Simli Aid have been able to tackle the issue of young mothers, by educating women about their rights, they are in a better position to deman them.
Political Literacy is an extremely effective tool that empowers people to access state services, secure their rights, know their responsibilities, and participate in governance and decision making processes at both local and national level.
