Chair of the Board
Following his degree in Statistics, Alan spent over 30 years in the Civil Service, 20 of which were in senior positions including the departments for Education and Business. He has experience and skills in project management, HR, policy development and analysis. Alan has visited projects in the Gambia and Sierra Leone and has been Chair since 2013.
David has had a long and exciting career in International Development, living in multiple countries across South America and Asia and working for organisations such as Oxfam and Water Aid.
David is a passionate supporter of Village Aid.
David has been a supporter of Village Aid for over 20 years and has been a Trustee since 2010. He previously worked at the University of Sheffield where he was Reader in Social Policy. In the three years before he retired David took groups of students to rural Gambia to meet local people and workers at Agency for Village Support (AVISU) a partner of Village Aid.
Staffing is kept to a minimum to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Our two staff members play a vital role in running Village Aid from our Bakewell Office.
Poppy joined Village Aid in 2015 to develop our links with businesses, individuals and community groups. She is responsible for governance, campaigns and fundraising. Poppy is a passionate advocate for Village Aid’s approach having spent time travelling and volunteering with rural communities in Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.
Community Fundraising Co-ordinator
Chrissy joined Village Aid in September 2016, working closely with supporters to develop Village Aid’s identity in the region. Chrissy has an MSc in Environmental Change & International Development from the University of Sheffield and spent four months working as a Team Leader on the ICS Entrepreneur program in Tanzania, leading a group of volunteers to deliver a livelihoods programme with rural youth.

Volunteers play a vital role in the running of Village Aid. Volunteers provide essential support with research, fundraising, delivering global education and administration.
Hands UP co-ordinator
Lyndsey worked for Village Aid in 2015 after returning from working in Uganda as a public health nutritionist. After moving on in September 2016, Lyndsey continues to volunteer with us heading up our schools programme Hands UP.
Trusts & Foundations volunteer
Heather began working for Village Aid in 2013 as UK Fundraiser, supporting the Cameroon project in particular. After moving on from the organisation in 2015 following the birth of her son, Heather is now working with Village Aid as a Trusts and Foundations Volunteer, helping to raise outstanding funds for safe water projects in Cameroon and supporting trusts fundraising more broadly across the organisation.
Monitoring and Evaluation team
Our Research team provide vital support to our partners to ensure our research, monitoring and evaluation is world-class, ensuring our projects enable permanent change in the most effective way, and determine where improvements can be made.
