Rafiki raises £500
Dan Wilcockson, from Old Basford spent a day a week through the summer organising and promoting an event in aid of Village Aid’s Africa Matters appeal.
Dreadlock Alien aka Richard Grant delighted the audience with his spoken word – touching on dual heritage with his 50:50 , colour-free visions, love and tolerance. He had everyone’s wrapt attention, and inspired others to get up and have a go.
Creation of Creation and Les Elus, a Congolese band got everyone up dancing to their groovy beats. Jo Williams, Village Aid’s Donor development Manager was delighted with the turn out, and the generosity of local companies who gave prizes for the raffle. “Dan has done a fantastic job of organising and promoting the event, it would have been great to welcome more people, but as our first ever event in Nottingham, I’m really pleased with the turnout.”
