Bakewell Show Chocolate Winner!

Many thanks to all who took part in Village Aid's chocolate treasure hunt at this year's Bakewell Show.

70% of the world's cocoa comes from West Africa, specifically from countries like Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Nigeria and Ghana. Although not considered (in international terms) the poorest of the poor Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon (countries in which Village Aid work) still house huge pockets of desperate poverty, particularly in rural areas. Having a thriving cocoa and chocolate industry is a huge contributor to the national economy and provides thousands of jobs for families.

Thorntons chocolate, based in Alfreton, Derbyshire very kindly donated this giant chocolate champagne bottle for use at the Bakewell Show. We raised just over £150 from ticket sales for our African treasure hunt so a huge thank you to all who took part.

Congratulations to a Mr Neil McGregor who won with triangle number B60. The chocolate was hidden somewhere in the Sahara desert just on the border of Chad and Libya. It's a wonder it lasted so long...

Again, a huge thank you to all who took part and came to meet us at the Bakewell Show. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
