BBC Radio 4 Appeal Recorded!

2011 Commonwealth Writer Prize Winner presents Village Aid’s BBC Radio 4 Appeal

Aminatta Forna, author of ‘The Devil that Danced on the Water’, ‘Ancestor Stones’ and this year’s ‘The Memory of Love’ (for which she won the 2011 Commonwealth Writers Prize) will be presenting this year’s BBC Radio Four appeal for Village Aid.

“We’re delighted that such a talented and experienced broadcaster and author has agreed to present our appeal for us this year” commented Keith Bradshaw, Village Aid’s Marketing Director. “Aminatta hails from Sierra Leone, a country in which Village Aid have supported projects for over twenty years. It’s fantastic news that she can talk with authority and experience on the issues faced by many communities, families and individuals living below the poverty line in West Africa.”

James Atkins, Village Aid’s Communications Officer added, “We hope this appeal will be an opportunity to tell people all over the UK about the unique way in which Village Aid deliver long term, sustainable development programmes in West Africa from our humble origins as a locally supported, Derbyshire charity.”

The appeal will be broadcast on BBC Radio Four on 3rd July at 7:55am with re-runs happening on Sunday 3rd July at 9:26pm and again on Thursday 7th July at 3:27pm.
