MBOSCUDA - Mbororo Social and Cultural Development Association - delivers REFLECT literacy, para-legal and agro-pastoralist services to 30 rural communities in Cameroon.

Village Aid started to work with the Mbororo Social and Cultural Development Association (MBOSCUDA) in 1997. Currently supported by Comic Relief, the programme works with the North-west regional branch of MBOSCUDA which is based in Bamenda, to deliver REFLECT literacy, para-legal and agro-pastoralist services to 30 rural communities.
Traditional Mbororo society suffers severe persecution at the hands of state institutions, and is badly equipped to cope with the rapid pace of change which is affecting all of Africa. MBOSCUDA and Village Aid work in remote mountain communities, helping to integrate Mbororo people into wider society, whilst supporting the development of local institutions which can defend local interests and drive local development efforts.
Country facts & figures
Cameroon is unique in having been colonised at different times by Germany, France and Britain. The Francophone / Anglophone division is present in every aspect of national life, with the French-speaking side dominating politics. The incumbent president Paul Biya has been in power since 1982. The faltering economy, crumbling public institutions, and poor government services all indicate that Cameroon is a failing state with little prospect of recovery until the politics change.
