25 Years of Village Aid: Chatsworth celebrations

Village Aid raised £15,000 to secure better livelihoods for people in Africa with a celebration dinner at Chatsworth House

More than 80 friends and supporters enjoyed the celebrations which included a champagne reception, tour of the house decorated for Christmas, an exquisite three course meal and a raffle and auction.

The auction, hosted by Bagshaw’s Alastair Sneddon, was a huge success with guests entering fierce bidding wars to take home prizes including an original piece ‘The Splash’ by renowned local artist Pollyanna Pickering. Guests were intrigued by a six course fine dining private chef experience by Charlie Ratcliffe of the Private Chef Company, resulting in a huge income of over £1,600. Prizes were also donated by many generous Peak District businesses including; Forest Gin, Cathy Bower Photography, Hope Cement, Wheeldon Trees Farm and others.

The High Sheriff of Derbyshire, Elizabeth Fothergill, shared with the room her excitement at recently discovering Village Aid’s work and her admiration for the role it plays in engaging the people of the Peak District in global issues.

Guests were inspired by speeches from Kathryn Llewellyn, United Purpose CEO and Alan Davies, Village Aid’s Chairman, who spoke about the focus on community-led development throughout the journey of Village Aid from its roots to its merger with United Purpose in the last two years. Alan’s words were made extra special with quotes from the founder Andrew Kingman who couldn’t be there himself.

Village Aid would like to thank all our guests and donors for their generosity and of course to Chatsworth for hosting an incredibly special evening.
