Fundraising
Our office in Bakewell is run by four full-time and two part-time staff as well as several committed volunteers (see our staff and stakeholders page).
We regard our public supporters as partners with us and the people of Africa. We keep them informed and up to date with the progress of our work through regular newsletters and through our website and opportunities to meet some of our partners when they visit the UK. We run activities and events to which supporters are invited such as Africa Matters days where we engage people on issues about African development as well as enjoying live African music and art.
We encourage our supporters and others to take part in sponsored events such as marathons, sponsored walks and we have links with ‘adventure’ companies that can offer charity fundraising sponsored treks, climbs cycling in the UK and overseas. etc. We also have benefit music concerts, dinners, skills auctions and other activities to which supporters are invited.
As with our African partners we make a point of treating our supporters as partners in the work and pay particular attention to professional donor relations with an element of personal treatment. We encourage them to contact us in person if they have questions, suggestions or concerns about any aspect of our work.
Village Aid is a member of the Fundraising Standards Board, and the Institute of Fundraising.

We run on a very slim budget and need many more UK supporters to achieve our goals. Any financial support, whether large or small is always gratefully received. Susanne Garnett, the Director, is always willing to consider speaking on behalf of Village Aid.
