Sierra Leone's Blood Diamonds

Village Aid has worked in Sierra Leone with its grassroots partners for over twenty years, just before the well documented civil war broke out in 1991.
During this time we witnessed how the countries abundance of diamonds fuelled a conflict that in just over a decade rendered 50,000 people dead, hundreds of thousands displaced and the countries infrastructure and economy in tatters.
This short documentary film produced by 'Journeyman Pictures' in 2006 takes a look at how natural resources in the developing world are not always be a blessing.
